About merebase

“I just need an app that does one thing.”

I heard that sentence for forty years. merebase is the answer.

Timothy has spent forty years building software for the organisations that could afford the kind of custom development most businesses only dream about. Enterprise systems. Complex integrations. The expensive stuff.

"After forty years of building software for the companies that could afford it, this is for the ones that couldn't."

merebase came from a simple frustration. Every small business he ever worked with or spoke to had the same problem: they needed one custom tool that did one specific thing, and they could not get it. Not because the technology was hard. Because the infrastructure around it, the auth, the storage, the access control, the deployment, cost more than the feature itself. So the feature never got built.

AI changed the cost of building. merebase changes where the result lives. The plugin handles everything behind the scenes so a single HTML file built in Claude or Cursor can be live on a real URL, with real access control, in under a minute.

Timothy is also managing partner of Techshin Partners, a technology leadership consultancy that works with boards, CEOs, and technology functions on how they govern and operate technology — including AI. The work spans board-level governance, C-suite leadership development, and fixing the operating rhythms of technology teams that are technically capable but not delivering. Their positioning is blunt: "Technology has never been the answer. Leadership is what makes it work."

The two projects sit at opposite ends of the same problem. Techshin works with the organisations that have the budget for proper technology leadership. merebase exists for the ones that do not. Same belief. Different scale.

Why merebase exists

The plumbing should not cost more than the feature.

Every small business Timothy worked with over forty years had the same problem. They needed one custom tool that did one specific thing. Not a platform. Not a suite. One thing. And they could not get it. Not because the technology was hard. Because the infrastructure around it, the auth, the storage, the access control, the deployment, cost more than the feature itself. So the feature never got built.

"I just need an app that does one thing."

AI changed the cost of building. A working app that would have taken a developer a week now takes an afternoon. merebase changes where the result lives. Install the plugin and the plumbing is done. Auth, KV storage, entity storage, access control, version history. All of it. So the app you build can be as simple or as complex as the job requires, without touching any of the infrastructure underneath it.

The plugin is free. What you build on it is yours. Your data stays on your own hosting. WordPress runs 43% of the internet and your site is probably already there. merebase is the one install that turns it into a platform.

Deploy in one command and control exactly who sees it. Built for the people who just need one thing to work. Plugin licensed GPL v2.
